Salmon delivers new Heuga e-Commerce website

Thu,18 March 2004

Salmon Ltd, the IT services and consulting firm, today announced the completion of a new B2C e-Commerce website for Interface, the largest modular carpet manufacturer in the world. The new site - www.heuga.com - is the first B2C e-Commerce venture by Interface in Europe and offers customers an interactive experience to help choose, design and fit Heuga flooring in any room of their home. It is currently available in English and German, with French and Dutch versions to be added later this year.

The www.heuga.com website is a core part of Interface's strategy to build and drive their residential brand. Its launch coincides with a pilot scheme that aims to engage more closely with consumers and the site is designed to assist customers in using Heuga flooring in their home. As well as providing the entire Heuga product range, the site is also designed to inspire customers on how to carpet individual types of room. This is provided through a series of zones that allow customers to browse by room, style or colour.

To enhance the buying experience, the site has a series of features to guide customers through the purchase, fitting and aftercare of their flooring. These include a room calculator to determine the amount of carpet needed in a room, an installation and product care guide, and a 'Find a Stockist' locator. Delivery is provided to the customer's home and the site has an 'Ask the Expert' feature to assist the customer during the purchase and fitting of the carpet modules.

The site was built using IBM WebSphere Commerce 5.4 with Salmon concentrating on ensuring that the technology provided the robust scalability and resilience that Interface required. As one of IBM's Premier Business Partners, Salmon plays a crucial role in providing WebSphere customers with the tailored solution that they need. Salmon is also providing ongoing support and management of the website.

This project follows the successful completion of the first phase of a sales force automation system for Interface which was also implemented by Salmon. It also comes in the wake of the successful implementation by Salmon of a new e-Commerce website for Argos (www.argos.co.uk).

Patrick Riley, Senior Vice President, New Business Development at Interface, said: 'The www.heuga.com site is an important part of our strategy to engage more directly with customers. It is not just a basic online catalogue shopping site, but an interactive experience that will help Heuga customers enjoy the maximum benefit of our industry leading flooring. As a recognised leader in implementing e-Commerce solutions, Salmon have been instrumental in fulfilling our ambitions for this site and we will continue to work closely with them during its future development.'

Simon Ball, Commercial Director from Salmon, said: 'Interface was determined to become the first of its industry to take advantage of the internet as a B2C sales channel. By turning to Salmon, Interface have not only tapped into our industry-leading knowledge in next generation, high functionality e-Commerce sites, but also our ability to guarantee that the project is delivered on time and to budget.'
